Schedule
8:30 - 9:00 am – Registration
9:00 - 9:45 am – Introduction/Identifying Your Career Path
- introduction of service organizations (ADA, DTRC, CADA), panelists
- ice breaking exercise
- brief introductory lecture about the importance of identifying your career path
9:45 - 11:00 am – Jumping into the Market
Participants will be broken into several groups. Along with professionals, each group will be responsible for producing an element of a fictional dancers ‘promo package’.

- promotional plan/marketing strategy/branding yourself as a dancer
11:00 am - 12:15 pm – Stepping into a Contract
Participants will be walked through a mock contract negotiation. They will also learn about the importance of a contract, what a contract consists of (3 Ps of a contract) and basic professional standards
12: 15 pm - 1:15 pm – Getting to know your Community Lunch
Community members are invited to join us for lunch and meet the dance students – networking activity
1:15 - 2:45 pm – Moving through an Audition – A Panel Discussion
Panel discussion with various dance community members.
Panelists will talk about:
- their experience auditioning or auditioning dancers
- what to expect at an audition
- branding yourself/standing out at an audition
- finding out about auditions
2:45-3:30 pm – Fueling The Body Break
A Nutritionist will give a brief talk about the importance of fueling the body. Samples of nutrition shakes will be available to the dancers.
3:30-3:45 pm – Break/Change
3:45 - 5:00 pm – Mock Audition
Mock audition/class. Instructor(s) will teach a movement class as a mock audition. The instructor and a panel will talk through what they are looking for at various points in the class. A few different styles (i.e. contemporary, hip hop, etc.) similar format to So You Think You Can Dance Canada.
5:00 - 5:45 pm – Closing and Feedback
