History

On January 25, 2001, the Dancer Transition Resource Centre, in collaboration with several dance service organizations in Ontario, presented the first on the MOVE/danse TRANSIT conference.

The grass-roots initiative, held in Toronto at Premiere Dance Theatre, was designed to address the specific and pressing needs of emerging dance professionals by providing a range of skills, resources and networking opportunities to ease their transition from student to professional.

As an early transition tool, on the MOVE/danse TRANSIT has been a resounding success. In eight short years, conference attendance has quadrupled, and on the MOVE/danse TRANSIT has grown into an annual event held in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver each year.

2009/10 marks the first year the conference will be held in Edmonton.

We are forever grateful to the original steering committee, who dedicated countless hours to bringing on the MOVE/danse TRANSIT to fruition:
